Who Am I?

I qualified as a Career Guidance Counsellor from University College Cork over 25 years ago (my first career was as a nurse and midwife).  Over the years I gained valuable experiences with FAS, NLN, the HSE and  AHEAD.  This resulted in considerable engagement with learning, disability, teaching, recruitment and work in Ireland & across Europe.

I really enjoy all I do and hope you will benefit from the practice I have developed.

Research Platform

I am currently engaged on my  PhD in Trinity College Dublin with Professor Conor Mc Guckin.   My research interest is in Career Guidance, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Inclusion – in essence  “What does Career Guidance need to be today?”.

In essence; I have learned so much from clients – their motivation, aspiration and determination – from the stories I have been privileged to be a part off.

What our successful clients say

  • “Thank you Mary. We both found it really helpful. I think ‘agricultural science’ was a wonderful proposal for Derek to set his sights on. Although – he will need to explore it further while he still fancies himself as a VET!!!
Just home so I will get a good look at the report tomorrow with clear eyes. Thank you so much for your help and advice and I’m sure we will be back to you again.”

    Student in Agricultural Science
  • “Mary did an excellent job identifying my individual skills, learning style and interests and presented a clear potential learning pathway for me. I found the consultation extremely enlightening, it highlighted a range of factors about myself, as well as opening my eyes to the potential directions I could take and develop my career in, that I had never considered before. I would highly recommend her career guidance services to anyone.”
